North American flora found between pacific and Atlantic oceans, ranging from Arctic to Mexico has given rise to a large variety of plants. Coniferous forests and deciduous forests thrive in the eastern and northern parts. In the harsh wintry Tundra region where the summers are short, Sedges, Mosses and Lichens grow. Whitebark pine grows on the slopes of the Rocky Mountains and Succulent Cacti with water storing stems grow in the deserts. Temperate forests grow 150 species of trees such as Oaks and Maples. Buffalo grass is adapted to dry conditions and is found growing mostly in the Prairie regions.
